Kate Shabanov

This Is The Summary of the Fire Lie And Theft of Funds from Innocent People

I'm sure a lot of people have heard of "The Cloth Diaper Compendium" on Facebook. The group was created by a person named Kate Emery, Kate Shabanov, Katherine Emery, Katherine Shabanov. She claimed to have a degree in the chemistry field and used this degree to provide advice to mothers cloth diapering their children. Many people were suspicious of her advice and asked her to prove the things she was saying, however no proof was ever provided. The only thing Kate and the administrators of the page did was verbally bash people who questioned their methods.

They very much had a blindly loyal following with mothers washing diapers based on the advice of an internet "chemist". The page was controversial due to this, however the loyal members of the board never questioned anything Kate Emery Shabanov had to say. This would come to bite them in the behind.

In September of 2013, Kate Shabanov claimed to have suffered from an apartment fire and posted about it on her advice site "The Cloth Diaper Compendium"

She even spoke of her fire on her now defunct Facebook business page "Monster Bottoms"

Without a shred of evidence, pictures of a damaged apartment, or anything backing up the claims of Kate, her board starting collecting funds to help her "recover" from the "fire". Out of the kindness of their hearts, they believed Kate Emery Shabanov because I'm sure they couldn't fathom that someone would lie about such a devastating event such as a fire.

While Kate Emery Shabanov never officially asked The Cloth Diaper Compendium for donations, she certainly accepted them. She accepted people donating to her, knowing she lied. Knowing she lied about a fire. She lied. She defrauded. She defrauded mothers, children, the hard working parents who donated to help this "victim".

Her lies started to unravel when she collected money from mothers to create cloth diapers and never sent any diapers. A Facebook page dedicated to uncovering scammers revealed that Kate lied about many things, including having a house fire.

They (the scam detection board) provided proof from local Meriden police and fire records that there was never any fire anywhere near where Kate Emery Shabanov lived. They made contact with Kate Emery Shabanov in an effort to obtain the truth from her. In exchange for telling the truth they would take down information, legally obtained from the fire and police departments, from the scam detection board.

Kate then made a statement through a FB private message, that she allowed the receiver to share, stating that she lied about the fire.

If you are a victim of Kate Emery Shabanov you may file a theft report with your police department who should then forward that complaint to the local Meriden Police Department.

You can also file a report here if you were a victim of this scam. http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
